One Cast, One Bass – A Night to Remember

Some sessions are about persistence. Others are about timing. And then there are those rare ones where it all comes together in a single cast.

Diogo hit the coast late Tuesday evening with no major expectations — just a dropping 33ft tide and a mark he trusted. It’s a spot that often produces when the water’s pulling back, and this time was no different.

On his third or fourth cast, armed with the 15g YKR Happy Eel in Purple Magic, something hit hard. A proper thump, followed by that unmistakable sound — drag peeling and heart racing. He knew right away this wasn’t your average schoolie.

The Fish: Big Bass Taken at Night

After a strong fight, Diogo landed a thick, healthy bass. One of those fish you don’t forget — slab-sided, clean, and full of power. A few quick photos, then back into the water.

Nothing else showed up that night, despite clear signs of activity. But honestly, it didn’t matter. That one moment was worth the whole trip.
