Shallow Water Success on the Paddle Tail

A recent session fishing shallow ground proved just how effective a simple weedless setup can be when working through heavy weed.

Fishing tight in amongst the weed beds, the goal was to keep things clean and avoid snagging while still presenting a natural bait. A paddle tail setup was the perfect choice, allowing the lure to glide just above the weed while still kicking out plenty of vibration.

Keeping the retrieve slow and controlled, letting the lure work just over the tops of the weed, resulted in a solid bass taking confidently.

This style of fishing is ideal for shallow ground, especially when the fish are hunting in and around structure. The weedless presentation not only reduces lost gear but also allows you to fish areas others avoid.

Sometimes, keeping it simple really does catch more fish.
