We’re excited to share a brilliant local fishing report from none other than Sam Daniels of the Beneath the Waves Fishing YouTube channel!
Sam, a passionate local lad from Jersey, Channel Islands, has built a reputation for his deep love of seabass fishing — and his dedication to helping anglers improve their techniques. Whether it’s advising what to use, or how to approach your session, Sam’s all about helping people shine on the water.
On a recent trip, Sam absolutely smashed it, landing around 15 seabass — and the quality of the fish was outstanding.
Here’s the breakdown:
•Top 3 fish from the session:
Three fish over 60 cm and a string of high 50 cm fish, with the biggest bass hitting 64 cm — a true Channel Islands beauty!
•What worked best:
Most of the action came on the YKR Happy Eel 20g lure in Brown Fantasy which proved irresistible to these bass in the conditions.
A few were also tempted by the natural green colour, showing the importance of carrying a couple of proven color options.
•Where and how:
Sam targeted fast, shallow-flowing waters — a textbook approach for summer bass. His local knowledge really paid off, knowing when and where the bass would be moving through.
